Re: Best progressive metal bands of last 5-6 years?

Devin Townsend's on a roll lately. Tesseract, Haken, Headspace... Vanden Plas and Sonata Arctica still have quality output. There are a few good newer bands who escape me right now... I'll post them when I recall.

Re: Bands you would like included here.

Most Tech/Extreme bands tend to not do well here. Watchtower was removed due to low ratings.

I like Aphrodite's Child personally, but again when here it had really low ratings.

Helloween, Hammerfall, Metal Church are not prog.

Re: post song problems here

I saw "Headspace" on the Rock side. What do you think of "Rainbow" and "Magnum", 2 pre-cursors to Prog Metal? And what about Opeth? I could see their later era as well as "Damnation" being on Both (maybe Rainbow and Magnum as well as others that fin in-betwee...

Re: post song problems here

I'll check it out MAV.

I'm also looking for tips/feedback on bands on the wrong site, rock and metal. It's still a mess at the moment but I hope to straighten out a lot of the band genre classifications in the next week or two.

I may be wrong but I believe The Algorithm is French but Progulus has it with a Union Flag.

P.S. 0/
It says UK on their bandcamp page. I'll look into it.

There is a "gap killer" feature in SAM with some settings to play with, but I've always left it disabled because I haven't yet found a setting that works without too many false positives.

And as I feared, the mistake on the second disc of Genesis' "Three sides live" hasn't been noticed. "One for the vine" is in fact only the first part of that song. "Fountain of Salmacis" is in fact "One for the vine part 2", while the last song should be labe...

Re: :/

Uh . . . Did the "Rain Epilogue" after Fates Warning "Part XII" get edited out??? Okay, I know that we can all listen to our CD's at home but come on . . . its a mood setter and it would be a shame to remove it :( ...anyways, thats why the "Alarm" goes off to WAKE YOU ...

popularity factor = (# album plays / # number of plays of top album) x (average album rating / 5) x 100 I don't really see it as an issue that the unpopular stuff gets weeded out every now and then as I want to keep the station relevant to the listeners, but this is more of a philosophical debate ab...

That's a possibility though I'm not sure if it's a good permanent solution. Also many of the portable drives I've seen only work on XP or later operating systems.

That's a good idea but I'm not sure the server will allow a larger hard drive than what's already in it. It has been rock solid machine so far but it's not exactly a spring chicken anymore in the 'puter world. The only thing that's failed in it since the station inception were a few power supplies. ...
